Owners of Handyman Matters of Wichita
In 2004, Phil Davis and his wife Shelley screened more than 10 business opportunities.

Phil & Shelley Davis
The primary focus was to select a business that would allow their family to remain in their home town of Wichita.
About Phil Davis
Phil’s background has taken him from accounting, to computer network support, to director of business operations in two companies that were known for Fanatical customer service.
In 2004, after working 7 years as the Call Center Director for an international office supply company, he found that his location of 140 employees was being closed. The Wichita center wasn’t the only location being closed. Five other US based call centers were also being closed.
This gave Phil the opportunity to look into several options with the primary objective to keep his family in Wichita.
A Handyman Matters franchise stood out as the business.
It met his most important criterion:
- A business that could not be outsourced overseas
- A growing industry
- A business focused on outstanding customer service
About Shelley Davis

She is an outstanding teacher with great passion for children and teaches first grade at Nelson Elementary School in Haysville.
Because of her profession, Shelley made sure that Phil provided a discount to teachers, along with seniors, military, and those with disabilities.
