Handyman Matters Open For Business
Randy and Sandra McMahon opened Handyman Matters in October 2004. Randy’s background began in the Accounting Field & Construction Industry. He supervised large construction projects for approximately 12 years, in charge of all phases of construction of commercial buildings, including overseeing the financial end of the projects too. He then was Vice President of the Rental and Sales Division of Farnham and Pfile for 17 years, responsible for purchasing and the sales/service of all of the rental store equipment for residential and commercial customers. Sandra’s background is in the health-care industry. Working as an RN at Monongahela Valley Hospital for the past 23 years.
“We were looking for a franchise and a business to build, and this really made sense with my background. We realized many people have a hard time getting things done around the house,” said Randy McMahon. “That’s where we come in, no job is too small or too big for us. We can help you with a project as small as changing a light fixture or even a full remodel of a bath or kitchen”.
“We were drawn to this business because the business format is different than other home repair businesses. We use employees, not subcontractors, and this allows us to control the scheduling and quality of work. When we set a date for a service, we call the night before to confirm and we arrive on time. We use a rigid hiring process, qualifying each Handyman’s special skills. This enables us to choose the proper craftsman for each project – we run a background check on each employee so that customers can feel safe while we are working in their homes.”
“When we first had thoughts of beginning this business, customer service and quality workmanship were at the foundation. This continues to this date. We are proud to say we have an A plus rating on the BBB, and have won Angies List Super Service award the past 6 years (2011-2006). All the elements which were so important to us when we began in October 2004 continue today, we work hard striving for customer satisfaction, and we only hire multi-skilled Craftsmen which we would feel comfortable sending into our relatives homes. We call the night before, show up on time, and perform all jobs efficiently.”
