Handyman Matters North Houston Bathroom Remodeling Process
The Process
At Handyman Matters North Houston we have a strict process in place to insure that all the bathrooms we remodel for our Customers will provide many years of trouble free service while still offering the visual appeal the Customer desires.
Protect the Customers’ property at all times!
Construction is a dirty business (no pun intended) and we at Handyman Matters take extreme measures to protect our Customers property from all forms of damage due to the remodeling project. This usually entails putting down protective materials along the path from the entrance to the project area, removing any artwork from walls along the way and draping plastic to keep down the flow of dust from the project area to the rest of the home.
Demolition
Depending on the scope of the project, this is a step that many customers may want to tackle themselves, especially after watching some of the television shows that cater to the DYI crowd. Be aware that while demolition looks fun, it is easy to get carried away and do more damage than is needed to prepare the work area. Some of our Customers do handle this step, most do not. Our Craftsman are experienced in this work and will handle the demo quickly, with no extra damage done or injuries added.
Carpentry
When the walls have been opened up, it will be very easy to see if there is any need for any repairs due to water damage, termites, mold, etc. All repairs will be made and blocking will be installed to accommodate the installation of grab bars where needed. We think ahead so you won’t have to.
Plumbing Changes
Depending on what the Customer has in mind for their new bathroom, plumbing changes may be required. When needed, Handyman Matters will bring in a licensed plumber in order to handle the necessary modifications. If no mods are needed, Handyman Matters will install the fixtures and pressure test the piping systems prior to closing up the walls. We will verify the integrity of the plumbing systems prior to installation of the sub-surface materials.
Sub-surface Preparation
Handyman Matters begins with a proprietary tile underlayment from WEDI Systems. What is WEDI and why should you insist on using it?
Waterproof: Unlike other shower pan products WEDI is 100% waterproof, guaranteed.- Mold and Mildew proof: WEDI is made of material that mold cannot feed off of.
- Economical: WEDI is installed much quicker than other products which save labor costs and speeds completion time.
- Lightweight: WEDI is polystyrene foam and is easy to cut to any size right in the work area.
Structurally Sound: WEDI does not fail or decay over time. It will last a lifetime.- Complete: WEDI offers every accessory wanted in a shower such as ramps, niches, etc.
- Green Product: Insulating, non-hazardous, non-polluting, ozone friendly and can be recycled.
With a WEDI Systems Shower from Handyman Matters you will enjoy a worry free tile shower.

WEDI Systems Components
Drywall and Painting
After the WEDI System is in place, all other drywall repairs can be made. The walls will be closed up after testing all piping components for leaks. Texture is then applied per the scope of work. Any needed trim work is handled at this time too. Once all the drywall is in place and the trim work is finished, paint is expertly applied to all the walls and trim as needed.
Handyman Matters Senior Craftsmen are masters of the art of tile and can provide our Customers with the aesthetic appeal they are seeking. After the tile is installed, the grout will be sealed and care instructions will be given to ensure years of trouble free service.
Final Assembly
Final assembly includes all the other pieces of the puzzle – the vanity, sinks, fixtures, mirrors, light fixtures, medicine cabinets, Towel racks, grab bars, etc.
Project Completion
Once the Final Assembly has been completed, the Craftsman will remove all protective materials from all areas where they were placed, cleaning the work area thoroughly before bringing the Customer in to review the work. The Customer will review all work completed and identify any areas of concern they may have with the finished project. the Craftsman will address those concerns, if any, and have our Customer sign off on the completed project.
Post Project Completion
Within 10 days of completing a bathroom remodeling project, our Customer Service Manager will contact our Customer to verify that they are completely satisfied with the final product. We will take the time to remind our Customer that should they experience any problems in the future with their new bathroom, that Handyman Matters North Houston warranty’s the work and products that we provide.
