History
From small beginnings to industry leadership, Handyman Matters remains focused on its founding principles, embraces their customers as “customers for life”, and continually challenges itself to improve system-wide services and processes.
Humble Beginnings
In 1998, Handyman Matters was brought to life by Andy Bell, a refugee from the restaurant industry seeking balance in his life, the ability to help solve people’s home repair problems, and the desire to develop and run his own business.
It was important to Andy that this business serve as a catalyst for change in the home repair industry, that it served to restore public confidence in the home repair industry, and that the employees of the business be treated with respect. Today, Handyman Matters has 122 franchisees in 33 states and 3 countries.
Embracing the Future
Janet Asbury opened Handyman Matters Chicago in January 2004 in an effort to bring professionalism and the highest quality craftsmanship and customer service to the home services industry. The company remains 100% female owned today.
We are the proud recipients of the Handyman Matters Top Sales Award for 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2010 at our annual International Handyman Matters Franchise Convention. Handyman Matters Chicago is the first location to win the Top Sales Award for multiple, consecutive years. We also received the Handyman Matters Star Performer award for 2006.
Handyman Matters Chicago is committed to this very same concept of “customers for life”. We continue this steadfast approach in the everyday workings of Handyman Matters.
- Connecting with customers from the first phone call by listening and identifying their needs, we team the best craftsman for the job by recognizing that all craftsmen have their “specialty” areas.
- Customer service doesn’t end when the job is complete. We believe in following up with every customer and asking them about their experience.
