The family-run Kingwood business has been working for five years to provide quality repair services to the community and surrounding areas.
“We specialize in home repairs and improvements, small to medium sized projects, anything from re-doing kitchens to changing light bulbs,” co-owner Bob Mabry said.
Handyman Matterss specializes in small- to medium-size jobs covering a wide range of around-the-house handyman tasks, repairs, installations and maintenance found on everyone’s to-do lists. The company does not, however, build structures.
Bob along with his wife, Tish, joined the Handyman Matters franchise to help customers fix up their homes and make improvements.
Bob first found out about the franchise after he left his petrochemical engineering job where he designed refineries and chemical plants when the jobs began outsourcing overseas.
“My career has been spent in the engineering business and I wanted to have a change of career. But I realized I was too young to retire. I searched through a franchise locator and found Handyman Matters and I knew it was the business for me,” Bob said.
Bob has a background in making repairs and even helped build his parents house when he was in his teens. Though his passion still lies in fixing up cars.
Handyman Matters hires professional repairmen that have at least 10 to 17 years of experience to provide their customers with expert service.
“We want to make sure we are providing our customers with the best service they can get and make sure their needs are met. We have had to go to jobs recently to finish work other people started and did not finish,” Bob said.
In addition to Bob and Tish, their son Jeremy also works for them making it a family business. They plan to keep it that way.
Removing hot tubs and working for Homeland Security are just a few of the interesting jobs Handyman Matters has worked on in the company’s five years.
“Kitchen and bath projects are also interesting because we can take the home owner’s artistic designs and bring it to life and dramatically change the look of their house,” Bob said.
Bob and Tish are always looking for more handymen to add to their team and always welcome more customers.
They are planning to grow with the community, though they do not want to get too big to provide top service to their customers.
“Our customers can expect commitment to ethical business practices. Our customers will not get the runaround and we will try and be at every call as soon as we can,” Bob said. “We look forward to getting new customers and just seeing what the future has in store for us.”
